Hey Sarah, good stuff! We use reusable bags at the grocery store–would love to try 3bbags!!
To be more organic, I have recently started eating road kill. Just kidding. Check out my wife’s blog on some of the things we have incorporated, as a family, to be more environmentally friendly as well as green. I’m the one not pictured. Here’s the link: http://pugethound.com/growingupgreen/

To live more organically, I have been using vinegar as a cleaning solution. Seems to work well so far! Awesome giveaway!
Posted by Dohna on August 17, 2010 at 3:51 pm
Hi Shondra- I have also been using vinegar as a replacement to fabric softener. I put about 1/2 cup in the washing machine. Our clothes come out so fresh and our towels feel so fluffy! My mom and my daughter-in-law, Jackie turned me on to it this summer.

So I think this change you have made in your lifestyle is great! I have noticed that benefits it has been making for me as well. Most are just little things, but I already am noticing the difference. The grapes in the freezer were a great idea and I passed it along to all of my co-workers in the library. It has become my favorite snack while watching Lost, and I dont feel guilty after for eating so many. Boberto LOVES them too!
Posted by Monica on August 17, 2010 at 2:43 pm
I haven’t got a chance to try the scrub you posted on here, but plan on it in the near future. I have noticed that I am buying more organic fruits and vegtables and not sooo much processed food. I actually have started to find a passion for cooking. I love going to the grocery store and finding fresh ingredients to make dinner, and I know someone else that appreciates this as well. 😉 Thanks for making me a little more aware of the stuff I have been putting in my body!

I loved the popcorn in a brown bag popping episode!!! i love popcorn, especially non-buttered, unsalted popcorn as a light snack at rehearsals but hated hauling out the air popper for a handful of popcorn. Thanks, Sarah!

Sarah- since I have been reading your blog:
– I stopped buying bottled water
– I LOVE the popcorn microwaved in the brown paper bag
– I’m eating yummy frozen grapes instead of ice cream
– At the grocery store I’ve been putting my produce in my reusable bags….those free 3b bags sure would come in handy!
Posted by Dohna on August 17, 2010 at 4:02 pm

I will buy reusable bags that SEW makes, for reals, lots of them, as I seem to always purchase SO much fresh produce each time I go to the store.
Posted by Monica on August 18, 2010 at 8:59 am
I was wondering if you have any restaurants that you choose to eat at since you started your new lifestyle? I know that when you go out to restaurants it is hard to find fresh and healthy things to eat on the menu. Is there particular restaurants you like to eat at, or have heard good things about, that you can recommend to your readers?
Posted by sarah on August 18, 2010 at 11:13 am
you fools are comment crazy!

It looks like I’m behind on trying to post the most comments. I have a recommendation for reusable grocery bags. We have been using the ones from Whole Foods for almost 4 years now, and we still have the same ones!! They are only $1 and if they break or wear out, Whole Foods will replace them.
Posted by Dohna on August 21, 2010 at 8:24 am
Is this my friend, Kathryn!!??
Posted by Kathryn on August 18, 2010 at 8:42 pm
So I could really use some reusable produce bags to go in them!
Posted by Monica on August 19, 2010 at 3:21 pm
You were talking a few days ago about what to drink? I bought some juice at Save Mart that is GREAT!!! It is called Simply Apple, and it has no water added and no preservatives. It is not made from organic apples but it is 100% pressed apple juice, not from a concentrate. They had other options too, such as Simply Orange or Simply Grapefruit. I thought this might be a good option to mention if you end up doing a video on drinks!! 🙂 You know I love my juice!
Posted by sarahgoesorganic on August 19, 2010 at 5:20 pm
thanks for the juice idea, Monica. I’m glad you bought the best option 🙂 I’ll have to try it.
Posted by Monica on August 19, 2010 at 3:24 pm
The idea of Whole Foods reusable bags made me think of another question…Imagine that! haha. I was wondering what places you like to shop at? I know in this small town you only have one option, but when you go to other towns have you found any great grocery stores you could recommend? I know Whole Foods has some really great stuff! Have you checked out any other options?!
Posted by Monica on August 19, 2010 at 3:27 pm
Sarah, you should do a video of you actually cooking a meal… whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Or maybe you could do a blog on each of those and give a couple of options of something quick and easy you like to make. or maybe an easier option and something more difficult. Just some ideas, I’m sure you have already thought of all these… I JUST REALLY WANT TO WIN THOSE BAGS!!!
Posted by elo on August 19, 2010 at 3:37 pm
Wow! everyone wants those bags!!! including me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Jerry has grown some awesome cucumbers in the garden. Do you know of any beauty treatments to use them for? I know people slice them and put them on their eyes but I don’t really know why. Do you?

Monica- Simply Apple Juice is sooooo good. Reminds me of the fresh pressed juice you get from Avila Barns. Now that is some natural food heaven…Avila Barns. You should do a vlog from there this fall, Sarah!

Have you ever used a dehydrator? You might be able to make some yummy fruit leathers or dried fruit snacks with the fresh summer fruit. We used to have one and made some good stuff and beef jerky and turkey jerky too.
Posted by Sarah on August 20, 2010 at 8:53 am
Actually, I think it might just be easier to go buy the bags…I need to take a shower.
Posted by Sarah on August 20, 2010 at 8:54 am
i tried a dehydrator before, and it was not as great as I expected. that was years ago though, so maybe they are better now?
